BUCHAREST, Romania: Romania’s defense ministry has said that it will continue flying its remaining MiG-21 Lancer fighter jets until May 2023.
Romania, a NATO member country, is speeding up a planned purchase of second-hand F-16s from Norway, as its defense ministry decided to replace the MIGs due to their high accident rate.
Romania has a small number of F-16 fighter jets acquired from Portugal and is currently buying an additional 32 F-16 jets from Norway, giving it an additional two air squadrons.
