41 lifeless, 36 burned past popularity

JHALAKATHI, Bangladesh At least 41 people were killed in a horrific fire at a Barguna-bound launch on the Sugandha River near Jhalakathi early Friday, according to police.

This is Bangladesh’s first fire aboard a moving sea vessel.

As many as 36 people on the MV Obhijan-10 were burned so terribly that families could not identify the charred bodies. The authorities worry the death toll will continue to grow as many passengers remain missing.

The unfortunate injured passengers of the doomed ferry have been transferred to various hospitals for treatment.
